  13. What compiler are you using?  I have seen a similar problem on a long
  14. outdated version of gcc, where autocasting from double to integer
  15. propagated an unwanted sign bit.  I suspect that is close to what
  16. is happening here.  See whether there is any place in the C code
  17. where the lower part of a double is presumed to be autocast to a
  18. double and try an explicit cast.  I had to do a lot of that some
  19. two years ago.
